Rick Mears Indy racer

When I was a kid, I can remember my Dad always watching the Indianapolis 500 on Memorial Day weekend. The race was kind of boring for a 10 year old. Then I saw this yellow car, something was different now, this car captured my attention, my imagination. The yellow car became a symbol of excellence and when you saw it, you knew it was the best, the fastest.

I illustrated this a few years ago for a coworker who was a big racing fan. It was like drawing a time machine that brought me back to the root of my fascination with cars and speed. This one was challenging but the end result was a winner. Enjoy
